This top quality hall marked sterling silver mounted English made Hogget decanter has been completely hand made by expert craftsmen than span three highly skilled trades. Also known as a Hoggit or Hoggitt the glass is first hand blown in Stourbridge which is a town in the Midlands of England which for years has been the very heart of the English glass industry. The Silver mount is made in the world famous Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham which has been an area synonomous with quality hand made precious metal articles for nearly two and a half centuries and the polished mahogany base is also hand turned in Birmingham. The Hogget, hoggit or Hoggitt as it it also known has a historical military background and is also used by freemasons. The Hogget has a special rounded bottom and the only thing that stops it from toppling over is the special wooden base that is stands in. This ensures when passing the Port around the table after dinner that knowone will forget their manners and HOG IT hence the name Hoggit, or Hogget. The glass used for this Hogget has a traditional hand cut pattern
