Claret jugs

All of the claret jugs offered for sale at The Silverware Shop have been completely hand made in England by expert craftsmen that are separate but both highly skilled trades. The glass is first hand blown in the traditional way in Stourbridge which is a town in the central area of England known as "The Black Country" owing to its heavy industrial involvement. For many years this area has been the home of the English glass industry. The glass blanks that we use after undergoing rigorous quality control procedures are taken from Stourbridge to the world famous jewellery quarter in Birmingham which has been an area synonomous with quality hand made precious metal articles for nearly two and a half centuries. Here the glass is mounted with the Hallmarked Sterling Silver top that has been completely hand fashioned by highly skilled silversmiths. All in all a claret jug worthy of a place in any home. Check out all the designs for the silver and glass claret jugs in our range which are available in either a hand cut or plain glass. It may seem strange that the plain glass is the same price as the cut glass but being hand made the plain glass blanks have to be carefully graded and examined to find perfect ones so in actual fact the time used is the same for both items.
